16 Pounds of Pet is an Alternative Rock band from Asheville, NC.

This particular track is from their 1999 self titled album. This album used to be available at Independent Music Online, but the site is offline now.

Very little is known about the band, but they sound like an amplified dishwasher on crack. Ok, not really. The best way to describe them is a weird hybrid of Melvins and Faith No More.

Street Sweeper Social Club is the project of Tom Morello (RATM) and Boots Riley (The Coup). It’s a pretty awesome duo, so check out our previous post, here.

As a continuation of last week’s post, here is SSSC’s 2nd track from the 2009 NINJA tour sampler. This EP features tracks from Nine Inch Nails, Janes Addiction, and Street Sweeper Social Club.

If you have Zune Pass, check them out in the Marketplace. You can also pick them up at AmazonMP3 (and sync it to your free Cloud Drive).

Jerry Was A Racecar Driver (Download it from SkyDrive)

Primus is one of the most under-rated rock bands of the last 20 years. The band was formed by Les Claypool (Vocals/Slap Bass), Todd Huth (Guitar) and Jay Lane (Drums) in 1984. In 1989 Huth and Lane both left the band, to pursue other endeavors. It was at this time that Claypool brought in Larry LaLonde (Guitar) and Tim Alexander (Drums). This is typically referred to as the “best” lineup of Primus.

Today’s track is from the band’s 1991 major label debut, “Sailing the Seas of Cheese”.

For anyone that has played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, you will recognize this song.

Be sure to check out Primus’ official website, and if you have zune pass, go get’em in the Marketplace.

For those that want the CD.

Megadeth – The Right To Go Insane

Megadeth – The Right To Go Insane

This is probably my favorite song on Megadeth’s newest album Endgame, and could safely be considered a return to form for the band. The album was released in 2009 and followed up the band’s 2007 effort United Abominations.

Megadeth began after Dave Mustaine left Metallica in 1982. He quickly formed Megadeth, and has generally been credited as one of the “Godfathers of Thrash Metal”. The band has had a rotating cast of members throughout the years, with Mustaine being the only constant member. Currently the band consists of Mustaine (Vocals, Guitar), Dave Ellefson (Bass), Shawn Drover (Drums), and Chris Broderick (Guitar, Backing Vocals).

The band’s most notable albums include “Rust in Peace”, “So Far So Good, So What”, “Countdown to Extinction” and “Youthanasia”.

You can check these albums out in the Zune Marketplace, or Amazon.
